How to Choose the Right Clothes for Your Body Type

Let's face it, not all of us are born to be supermodels. Body types differ from one person to the other, so why not celebrate your own body type and pick the clothes that accentuate your body? Let's work with what you've got! Here are some tips on how to choose the right clothes for your body type.

Straight

If your hips and bust are the same size with a slightly smaller waist, then you have a straight body type. To accentuate your body, it's best to choose clothes that will enhance your waist. Try wearing a tube dress and pairing it with wide belt. The belt creates the illusion of a well-defined waist. Make sure to wear dresses or tops that pinch at the mid-section, that way you create some dimension to your body frame.

Pear

If you have a well defined waist with large hips in comparison to your bust and shoulders, then you have a pear body type. The crucial thing to do is to accentuate your upper body by adding volume to the top. This will create an illusion that you have an hourglass figure and de-emphasize your hips. Try wearing tops that has embellishments on the bust or on the shoulders, but still make sure to accentuate your waist. Choose skirts or pants that will minimize your lower half, such as pants in dark colors or skirts that skim your body.

Apple

If you have a proportionally larger upper body with broad shoulders and slim hips, then you have an apple body type. To dress an apple body type, choose clothes that will define your waist and add more curves to your lower half, such as pants with embellished pockets or full A-line skirts. Enhancing your lower half balances your wide upper body and provides a more balanced look.

Hourglass

If your hips and bust are the same size and you have a very well-defined waist, then you have an hourglass body type. The key thing to dressing an hourglass figure is to proportionally dress both the top and bottom. As long as you balance your lower half and your top, you're able to wear most types of pants, such as high-waisted pants and pencil skirts or skinny jeans with wrap-style tops.

Remember, getting dressed is a whole lot easier when you know what works best for your body type.
